Floor Pan Seat Mounting Reinforcement Brackets?
« on: January 20, 2014 - 02:35:27 PM »
Did all E-bodies have these inboard brackets/braces on the underside of the floor pans (see red circled areas in photos)?  My '70 Challenger Convertible does not have them, but the outboard brackets/braces ARE there, and I believe the floor pans are original, but not 100% certain.  If all E-bodies had them, does anyone know if these are being reproduced?  Were the welded in?  Thanks

AMD includes them when you buy a full front floor pan. Not sure if they sell them separately or not. I can't imagine they don't.

We made some for my convertible when we did the cars interior.  Spot welded them in  . . . .  :dogpile:

Just spoke with AMD.  They do not have a part # for these pieces, as they receive the floor pans with braces attached.  However, the guy I spoke to took my name and number and said he'd look into it and get back to me.  Keeping my fingers crossed, but pretty sure they won't be able to help me out.

Can you tell me how you made them, and what the dimension are?  Were you able to recess the center of the plates for the seat-track stud hole? Thanks.

Does your convertible have a fender tag  interested to see if it is coded for a bench seat please, this may be a way to see if your floor has been changed or not. :2thumbs:

Here you go.  Bucket Seats (no bench).  FYI - These seat track reinforcement plates are not the only things I found missing from the underside of my floor pan.  I recently bought a new E-Brake cable set.  When I went to install it, I found that the front cable guide bracket (just before the equalizer) was not there.  Luckily, I was able to get one from AMD.  The prior owner did A LOT of funky stuff to this car when he did his "Resto-Mod".  I am CONSTANTLY finding things I need to correct and fix.  Once I think I've turned the corner, I find something else that send me right back.

Thanks for sharing, it would be frustrating as you say to keep finding funky things the owner before you has left off the car.

I'm not sure why they included those mounting points but I used them when I added 6 way set tracks. The 6 way traks have those braces you can buy separately.
