My wife just called and said she tapped mirrors with a guy in the gas station parking lot. She was in her 08 ram, the other guy in a newer ram.

They exchanged info and he said he would call us and let us know how much the repair was.

The wife has no damage she said the light on the top of the other guys mirror was cracked. She is not sure how her mirior could have done that as her truck is lower then his. 

Am i wrong to just tell the guy to go through insuarance??

Id be concerned about your insurance going up? Ask your insurance agent for some advice?

I'd arrange a meeting to see how the mirrors line up if you are concerned if the contact would have cracked the top turn light. If it makes you feel better I know the trailer tow mirrors on newer ram truck the lens up top can be replaced seperately and aren't that expensive.

I agree with meeting him to see if the mirrors line up. No point in footing the bill for damage that was already there.

Just got home and had a chance to speak with the wife.

Turns out the guy was driving a 2500 (my wife drives a 1500).

She does not see how she broke the light on the top of his mirror. Apparently it had a hole in, not just cracked.
 
My wife says there was dirty water in the light and she does not think she broke it.  Unfortunately, my wife is not the confrontational type, so she did not say anything to the guy.

Apparently, when she got out of the truck, she said I think I hit your mirror, the guy said, yeah no big deal.  Then after pumping gas he noticed the "damage".

Looks like it will be an interesting time.

If my wife damaged the truck,  I have no problem paying, or having my insurance paying, but if not, I am not fixing the guys truck.

Nothing is free with insurance , it will be far cheaper to just pay for it
Different story if she didn't do the damage
