Question about latest Graveyard Carz episode - "W-O-M-A-N"
« on: February 06, 2014 - 11:05:33 AM »
Not sure how many of you saw the most recent episode of Graveyard Carz (GZ)  but I had one comment and one question. Maybe Mr. W-O-M-A-N is out there somewhere in our forum and could comment?

Comment: As much as I hate to agree with Daren "Hey Buddy" Kirkpatrick about ANYTHING, he was right in asking why did Mark choose a Chevy van for a full body wrap when GZ is about restoring old Mopars? Wasn't there a Chrysler minivan around anywhere?

Question: On the Crazy Plum Purple, '70 Challenger with sunroof, I think I saw belt moldings, i.e. chrome trim on the driver side of the car. To be fair, I am not sure if this Challenger is being restored to original condition or not, but I thought belt moldings were only on SE vehicles and that is one of the items that made them "Special".

On the van, Mark's father-in-law bought it new in 1996 and gave it to him a few years ago as a shop van.

This is from the Graveyard Carz Facebook page:

Graveyard Carz
To clear the air: Anyone who takes the time to research Graveyard Carz and The Division Productions knows that I started this dream with a lot of heart but not much money. I am proud of the fact that I, along with all of the Ghouls and the entire team at Division productions have managed to make a show that can compete on national television with what we have... We are of humble means and work hard. My father in law gave us this van a couple of years ago to help us out. He bought it new in 1996 and used it daily in his drywall business until he retired. It's a great old rig. 1 ton, extended, low miles and free. We use it every day here and we are happy to have her. In a perfect world we would buy a nice late model Dodge Van or a Sprinter, but for now our limited resources are best used making one great Graveyard Carz episode at a time. I just thought you should know. ~Mark

On the Challenger, I can't say for sure but they pretty much only do factory correct restorations, so I assume (yes, ASS U ME) that it came with them.  Remember, back then you could get pretty much any combination of parts and trim that you wanted.

I have a friend who has a 70 R/T convert that has all the SE moldings even the tail light pannel. He is the second owner and bought it from the first owner in 72.

The belt moldings are optional on all 70-71 Challengers.

I don't watch the show, so I can't comment...
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

I also have a 70 R/T Conv. It has a lot of SE options. It has the leather S/E Seats. The chrome wide molding on top of the 1/4 by the rear windows. It also had the bottom of the doors with carpet and reflectors and the 3 piece stainless trim for the back of the fenders and hood. Also it is a Hemi Orange with the T5 tan interior. It is all Legit according to the broadcast sheet and Galen.
