What holds dash light panel to dash pad ?
« on: February 16, 2014 - 10:08:14 AM »
Is there metal inside of the dash pad where the dash light panel screws go into it ? My dash light panel hangs down about 1/8-3/16" and the pad has no holes in it. Whats used to tighten the light panel to the dash pad ?

If you'rentalking about the the light bar there should be 3 holes with those metal screw clips along the top. This pic shows a couple of them.

Yep...6 screws total. What pad do you have ? If it's a UR pad, there's a really good chance the holes are covered. Once you dug them out you might find the clip nuts are missing too... :2cents:

I'm not sure what I have or even if its the original for a Cuda or not.  Hate to admit it, but I've found that I bought the car from a "flipper" and not a "restorer".  :(

Are you calling "clip nuts" the stamped steel temp nuts  ?  Where the panel goes too, the indent is in the padding but I can't find any indication of where there should be any holes. That area is just black vinyl and what appears to be Styrofoam behind it. Are you saying that if I were to place the panel in place and use a small needle probe I should be able to find the holes for screws ?

That's exactly how you do it.
