Windows before paint?
« on: November 29, 2013 - 12:56:19 PM »
My car is completely stripped down on the rotisserie and ready to go get blasted and painted. I know I want doors hood and body panels on the car but do I want window glass in the doors? I assume not but want to be sure also if you painting the inside of the door where the window glass is what color are you painting it

To restore a car properly, absolutely nothing should be on or in the car during the blasting/body work/painting process. :nono:

That is nothing except the parts getting painted body colour. :2cents:

I would blast the doors, fenders, trunk lid,and the hood separately.Imo any part that is bolted on must be off  before blasting.

Thanks
So what are you painting the inside of the doors. I had heard to paint the inside of the door black.

Yeah no windows or anything during blasting and painting.

I had my shop paint the inside of the windows a black undercoating which will prevent rust and will not chip away easily.

I like that idea. So looking down in the window channel you would see nothing. Do you have any pictures?

If you spray some undercoating on the inside of the door it will help with a few things.  The door will sound more solid when you shut it...it will protect the door from minor dents and it will cut down on some road noise.  I don't think there is any point in spraying the inside a different color though.  There shouldn't be a large enough gap to see down in there anyway.
