I'm building a 73 right now, doing the billboard stripe ... Everyone said it above, it's your car - build it to your liking.

Bought new in '71; I wanted the Challenger but they were $2850; too much $ so I got the 318, 3 speed on the floor, Twister Duster for $2100.
1973 Plymouth Barracuda
I ain't done yet.

To He!! with what anyone else thinks....It's YOUR car. Do what ya please.    :rebel:

A man after my own heart, Wade

If the car is numbers correct, then no. Otherwise its your car and do whatever you want to do with it !

Even with numbers, I don't think a 73's value will change significantly from this decision (and I say that owning a 73). Go wild.

I agree that the original 73 side stripes don't look so attractive.

I put 71 Challenger stripes on my 70 because I think they look better.

...For the record, my car isn't numbers matching or as it was from the factory, and that doesn't bother me in the least.

Travis and edl94 pix say it all.  That hockey stripe looks perfect on their cars, tying in with the blacked out tail panel.  Doesn't get any better than that!

You are right; even with an all matching car, the addition of a sticker (decal) won't change the real value since it can be removed if a purist wanted to.  But purists would not want a 73 anyway if they could get a 71.  Oh, I changed the engine guts too, to get more than the sick 73 factory power..
I am going with the Hockey stick thanks to all you guys' input.

Hockey stripe is great for any year.

:iagree:  if I ever do another repaint on my cuda, i'd go with a hockey stick.  Great choice on your part.... post some pictures when you get it back.

Your car...your choice.  Personally I think the hockey stripe is WAY over done.  The least seen stripe is the 72.  I like it because it's rarely seen.  I'd go with the 73 stripe but it's not my car.  A "hockey" stripe on a 73 becomes a "hokey" stripe.  Sorry...I couldn't resist.

And, as I predicted, we have the opinion of the .1 percent who won't think its a good idea. Of course, he is entitled to his point too.

My 73 had the white vinyl top a white wing and a white hockey stripe with GB5 blue paint and interior. Looked very cool and very 70's..... Can't go wrong no matter what you do.....
