727 Transmission Power Handling Capability?

My '69 has a race prepped 727 behind a little over 800 flywheel horsepower and 750 flywheel torque on pump gas. I drive it everywhere on weekends from about mid March through October. I drive it 95* heat and on cool days. I occasionally makes blasts down the 1/4 mile. I am running Hoosier Quik Time Pro ET slicks, so traction isn't usually an issue. If I were to increase HP and TQ, how much more can a 727 handle before it starts having issues. My current trans was built and installed in mid 2005 and has been used/abused ever since with no issues. Am I anywhere close to the limit of this transmission or can I safely add more power?

With the right part$$$$ lots.  My ex-employer ran a BA/A with a 500 cu in pro-stock Steve Schmidt engine(about 1200HP) with a 904 behind it.  Car ran high 6's @ 200+ MPH. Lots of trick parts his company makes for all automatics.  Sells to lots of the big name HP transmission companies.

I would call and talk to someone at A&A transmissions. They make some super strong drums and planetaries to handle all of the hp that you can generate. They even make a low 1st gear set for your 727.

Hey Ken, you stated that you have a "race prepped" 727 in your beast now. "Race prepped" means different things to different people, but it sounds like probably the best place to start asking is at the shop or company that built and race prepped your current 727. 8 years behind an 800hp beast without an issue makes it sound rock solid t me. Depending on what has already been done, you might just be good to go with "refreshing" of what you already have.

BTW ... The real reason I'm chimming in on this thread is because I love your ride! An 800hp "daily driver"? Thats wacked but I love it You got a thread or online photo album (photobucket, flicker, etc) with more pics of your A-body bomber?
