Leaf spring bolt

 I received my new leaf springs from espo last week and they look great. I also bought new spring brackets and the bracket bolts. The bolts are snug in the bracket but looser in the eyelet on the spring than I expected. I would guess about .030 play. Does this seem normal or maybe when it's tightened it's ok. I expected it to be a tight fit through the spring. Thanks for all replies.

In my opinion they should be a snug fit like the originals.

Thanks anlauto. I didn't take the old ones apart because of all the rust and I didn't plan on using any of the parts. I can't even turn the brackets on the old ones but I thought it was from rust. I think Ill try to disassemble the old one and get some measurements.

I agree it shoul dbe a snug fit , I always assemble with anti sieze so you have a chance of removing the bolt down the road

The nut that came with the new bolt threads on the old bolt fine and the new bolt is snug in the hanger bracket so the bushing that came in the new spring bust be to big. I'll call springs and things today to see what they think.

I called Laura at springs and things and she said it all sounds ok. The bolt does move a little in the bushing and will be fine when everything is tightened. The hanger brackets will pull in tight against the inner bushing.

Well how much play are we talking about ? You mentioned .030'' that's what you gap a spark plug at....That's pretty sloppy if you ask me

I would try and get the old bolt out of your old springs and try and compare the ID between the old and the new.

I put the bolt in the bushing and put my dial gauge on the bolt head and it reads .025 movement from one side of the bushing to the other.

I got one of the old bolts out of the old springs and it is the same as the new bolt. Both fit snug in the old spring bushing and the same looseness in the new so the new spring bushing must be a little bigger. I don't think it will be an issue. I thought about wrapping the bolts with something to center them until tightened.

What about 1 size bigger bolt , 1/16 of an inch is .062 though

I thought about that Neil but after paying $37.00 for these 2 bolts because there oem  correct not that my car needs anything the perfect I hate not to use them. I think I'm going to wrap them with a piece of thin steel. Once there tight all movement should be in the rubber around the bushing right? Thanks for your reply.
