I'll take a stab at it....I'll divide the 12 month model year into three equal parts.

Aug 1st -Nov 31st = Early
Dec 1st-Mar 31st = Mid
Apr 1st -Jul 31st = Late
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

Thanks Alan. Wish I had thought about that.
So than I'm sure that any parts for that year could have overlapped into the different early ,mid,or late part of the year. The reason I ask is my deck lid appears to be late model year 70 but my buil date is mid year (jan.9 1969) but still possible it came on the car.
Are trunk lids date coded?

Jan 9 1969 would be a 1969 model NOT a 1970 model.

Keep in mind 1970 Challengers were built from Aug 1st 1969 to July 31st 1970.

No date codes on trunk lids

Nice info, Alan.  :grinyes:

While we're on the topic of dates, one weird thing I saw though, and there are always weird things with these cars, is a 1972 Challenger that was made in July of 1971.  I think I have only seen this once and it was really strange.  I think I remember seeing the fender tag.  weird....  :eek7:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Pic #2 and 3 of my ARII 1/24 scale model car

Phil in New England-Massachusetts  Always thank God for what you have!
