That is how I tested mine, 12v to wire, negative to latch body.   They are not available new from my limited searching.  Best bet is at the yards.  They seem to command a premium from other sources.

Yes,12V to the wire should pop the trunk if it's working/hooked up.The wire is probably run over the wheel,down to the rocker panel,and exits out in the kick panel area.I wired one terminal on the switch to the hot terminal(always on,12V) on the fuse box,the other terminal on the switch to the latch.Try Mopar City,they always seem to have hard to find parts.http://www.moparcity.com/

Do give us a progress report on the install.  If you had to fabricate or modify anything to make it work.

I just bought one from the same guy he was really nice to deal with.  He even shipped the latch before receiving my check.
