Starting my project
« on: April 16, 2005 - 07:19:07 PM »
I got my 74 home from Mississpi last week. I finally got it into my new garage today. I spent the day getting most of the interior out. Tomorrw I will start tearing down the body. I am just so phsyced to finally get started. I also went to look at a 72 Barracuda with a 318. The car is rough but it's all there. He want $1750.00 for it. If I bought it I would be cutting the roof off and parting the rest out. But I figured I would let you guys (& Girls) know about it. I would rather see it save then strip it for parts. Let me know. Anyone going to Carlisle next week?

Djr71-  that is sooooo cool looking sitting there, getting ready for its extreme makeover.  Brings back lots of memories....   Go get yourself 20 boxes of Glad Freezer bags and 20 Sharpies....   having those bags of labeled parts sure helps later when you cant remember what you did.   Good luck and Im sure you will find all the answers you need here on this board.

Curious....was there anything wrong with your roof that gives you cause to cut one off of the parts car? Did you roof have rust damage or stepped upon?

Thanks for all the positive replies. The car is maroon, has a 318, a/c, auto, console, 8 3/4 rear, three speaker dash, and front disc brakes. The roof has some rot on it. I asked a body guy to come over and look at it, he said it's fixable but he thinks it would be better to get another. The car will not be ready for July, sorry. Plus that is when I am in full racing mode. I will be at Carlisle next week getting what ever I can.
I will keep you posted on the progress.

Djr71, very nice rescue!!!  I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end when she's all cherry again.  You should take it by the last owner who was planning to part it out and show him what it could have looked like for some time, patience, and money.  Best of luck with it!

Thanks Shaker71, I saw that and called to see how much to package it and ship it. I t would be over $500.00 not including the price. I spent the whole day today stripping most of the front end. I was planning on taking around three years to do it, but now I want it done asap.
After getting back into Mopars, I have been checking out alot of site, but you guys are the best.
