'71 Cuda front seats.....seat covers
« on: March 27, 2014 - 11:28:08 AM »
I am under the impression that the front seats in a '71 Cuda (in some cases) were leather inserts with vinyl. I came across a site that mentioned that the '70 & '71 Cuda's were that way. Is this fact?
Thanks for any input..

Leather optioned 70-71' Cuda seats were Leather only on the ribbed sections on the front seats.
The rears and the rest of the seats were vynil.

I e-mailed Ron Halbritter the Tech advisor at Legendary regarding the lower seat halves and the buttons not being recessed down.

His reply:
they are tucked as far as we can without wrinkling fabric.we have made them the same way for 30 years.

Ron claims to know E bodies. I don't recall the buttons this far standing up.

Here's what I received. (Click on picture)

Now look at this.

I know what they did or not do.
They didn't go to the extra effort to dig up the wire to attach the wire to pull down the button set.
Or make the material in the button areas relaxed for a pull down.

EXACTLY ....... thus.... this is the reason I am having my front seats redone. The man that does all my upholstery for any of my cars has been doing it for 50+ years and near what was needed to do them correctly. NO BUTTONS can with the Legendary Seat Covers.
Just the extra "vinyl".......but HE has the #5 buttons with wire connectors and installs them in his way that the button covers do not come off. Hopefully to get this week. It has been 7 weeks....he is a little backed up ;)

U are correct. That's why I am staying with my person to do my interior work.

And I know you must remember me mentioning about "your" cat and your handle.
