I have an interference issue with my steering center link and the exhaust pipe on the driver's side of my 70 Challenger. I have a 340-4 with stock exhaust manifolds with and non-stock 2-1/2" exhaust pipes. The center link rubs on the exhaust pipe to the point where the rubber cover for a tie rod ends had partially melted at some point in the past. Assuming I can't figure out how to move the pipe, what's the best way to create some clearance? I've read past threads where people have had to put a dent in headers to get them to fit, but I wasn't sure if this is just a matter of hitting the exhaust with a hammer directly or if a pipe or dowel is beat on to make the impression. If I have to do it, I'd prefer to do the "adjusting" without removing the pipe. Long term, I'll get the pipe replaced.
