Big block MSD ignition wire advice

As stated, my very mild build 440-6 has the MSD6 system with the blaster coil.
If I change wires (mine are at least 8-10 years old) should I go with the 8.5mm msd type wires, or will the "oem" orange 7mm wires be perfectly adequate.
I would prefer the orange color. Blend in a little better, plus theyre cheaper.
Champion plugs are gapped at .048 to .050
I think the orange type are made better now than the originals, but will they work well with the multiple spark?

I think they will be fine

the wider gap will cause the voltage to be a bit higher than it would be at 0.035" but not that much more.  Given that you are not running very high compression at high rpm, I think they will work ok. 

Just follow good practice and don't parallel two wires in the looms that go to cylinders that fire one after the other in the firing order.  You should do this no matter what wire is being used... :)

I would go with the 8.5mm wires. I look at it this way, why upgrade everything but the wires - which conduct the power to the plug?

^^^ Yep,like my firecores.I did have to use an accel ceramic on 1 cylinder due to header though.

Orange wires will just have the carbon core , spiral is far better , wire technology has come a long way since the 60s

Jes curious if you made your choice and, if so, if you've had an opportunity to try out whatever set you decided on?

I'm in the processing of swapping out my wires, plugs and the distributor cap and rotor, as well.

(I probably should've asked here first but, I went ahead and spent $ on a complete set of wire routing brackets for my stock engine, ordered 'em from Mega Parts. No more wire b.s. rigging (hopefully)!

Havent ordered them yet because Im trying to get my rebuilt six packs set up running properly first.
But I will advise when I do.
