Clutch adjuster rod too short
« on: April 25, 2014 - 05:23:30 PM »
Have a 73 big block with 4 speed. Used to be a 318  setup.  Used the same z bar and clutch fork. Have new clutch and z bar rebuild kits already installed, but i don't have enough length on the adjuster rod to get my pedal back up to the top. I have about 2.5" to 3" of free play still.  Could my fork be bent or can i just get another adjuster rod that is longer? My adjuster rod has about 3.5" of thread. Another thought i had was maybe i have the z bar backwards.
But i don't think so, i have looked at countless pictures and my manual all show the same thing.

I just adjusted mine further until i had a little over 1/2 of play. Now my adjuster rod is barely in the bushing. Everything is great, except i don't trust that rod to stay in it. like to be able to put a nut on the backside just to keep it on in case the spring or the clip break.
Thanks for the Tip. I will get me one ordered up.
