Having a stalling issue
« on: May 13, 2014 - 09:56:28 PM »
Running a 400 BB with aftermarket intake and headers.  727 3spd
Running a 750 Holley DP and an Holley fuel pump.  Electronic ignition

After the car warms up 10 min, it will stall when shifting into gear.  Why?

I have adjusted idle/ timing.  The fuel pump is new as I thought that was the issue.  Carb was just rebuilt and still same issue.   :banghead:

Any suggestions?

What's the timing set at and the idle as well. First thought is vacuum leak.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

What is the manifold vacuum both at idle & in gear , could be a powervalve or the idle transfer slot uncovered too much requiring opening the secondary idle a little or even holes in the throttle plates or it could be a timing issue or a problem with the dist advance so it retard as the speeds slow when put into gear

Assume it did not do this originally?

Did you make any changes recently?

On a DP, having the four corner idle system set up properly helps a lot.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"
