finally bringing home the B'Cuda - WA->MT->CO
« on: May 28, 2014 - 02:01:09 PM »
after 20+ yrs of dreaming, i'm finally bringing home my baby. leaving WA today, should be somewhere in MT tonight (I'm guessing we'll make to @ Bozeman) and making the last leg of the journey to Denver tomorrow. she cleaned up really well with the power washer (no pics right now, i'll upload later) .... can't tell ya how excited I am to finally get her back so I can start the processes.  :working:

we ended up finding the original bill of sale when my dad bought it in '73 for $1600! I also found almost all the registrations from '73->'86. to me, she is a family heirloom and it will be passed down to my son in @ 15-20yrs (he's only 18 now)  :smokin:

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Be safe out there on the roads and take lots of road pics with the car!

Glad it's gonna get treated right!  :useless:

ended up pushing through to Sheridan/WY :) got in @ 2am. always remember to ask for a discount, it doesn't hurt. the super 8 we stayed in, the guy asked if had AAA or anything ..... "nope, but how about a good guy discount" ... "sure, why not" .. gave me the AAA discount and I got to park the b'cuda in front so they could help keep an eye on it, lol.

also - if you ever need to rent a big ass truck, Enterprise has a commercial truck rental division (in several large markets - smaller markets are S.O.L.) and the cost is CHEAP compared to a regular rental. regular rental would have cost me almost a grand for a truck. renting this 2014 Ram 2500 HD only cost me $450/wk!! a 1500 would have been $350, a 3500 would have been $550. seriously, I don't know how you can beat that deal if you really need something reliable to tow or haul something big and not worry that you will damage your buddies rig. fully insured and no hard feelings if something goes wrong (especially in this case, where I have @ 2000K miles into the trip ..... no worries about blowing my friends motor or some other BS)

@ 'Cuda Hunter .... couldn't agree more brotha! so without further ado .....

talk about a tight fit ....

that big ol' John Deer 520 wasn't about to budge, only got it to move 4" with that big ass Ram 2500 in 4 low, so we worked around it

finally loaded!

 this always cracks me up ....   :roflsmiley:

home by tonight, hopefully I've got peeps coming by tomorrow to help unload  :woohoo:

i'm so glad they gave me the Dodge truck. it wouldn't have been the same to haul it back with a ford or a chevy .... that would have just been ..... wrong. + it was a great truck to drive, we have over 2300 miles on it, all me driving, and it was comfy and a great ride. now just waiting to see who can help unload, lol. then the fun begins :)

Was there a post or thread about how you found this car? Interested at how you found your dad's old car!

it didn't take long to find, just had to look in his yard (well ... it is a 25 acre yard ....)  :lol:  he bought it used from a Pontiac dealership in Longview/WA in '73 for $1600 (found the sales receipt in the glovebox, along with almost all registrations from '73->'87 when he parked it) which works out to @ $8800 in today's dollars. it just took me 20 years to convince him I wanted it for me and to not fix and flip it. took me a few years to get it here, but it finally is and I can at least work on it now instead of dreaming :)  once I get some things sorted and space worked out, i'll get a build thread going to help me document it   :thumbsup:
