340 6-barrel Adjustable Rocker Spec
« on: May 05, 2014 - 08:45:16 PM »
Getting ready to re-install the rockers on my T/A engine.  The spec for adjusting the rockers says tighten to zero clearance then tighten another 1.5 turns.  This seems too tight, as they were closer to .75 turns when I disassembled them a few days ago and I had no noise issues with them like that.  Does anyone know if the 1.5 turn spec is accurate?

72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

If it is happy at .75 turns it is less likely to pump up & hold a valve open , I have preferred to be on the less preload side as long as the pushrods do not drop out .
