70 Challenger TS switch issues
« on: May 11, 2014 - 06:36:26 PM »
I am putting the car back together and I have been running into some wiring issues. First, I have taillights but no brake lights. I tested the TS switch with a VOM and I have 12v at the brake switch-white wire from the TS switch-white wire into TS switch but no power coming back out for the dark green or brown brake light wires. Does this mean it is a bad TS switch? Secondly none of my running lights are working. I checked power and have 10.4v at both the front and rear but the bulbs won't illuminate. Is this a sign of a bad ground? I thought the running lights were grounded in the socket. Thanks.

Yes , if you have power going from the switch up the column & nothing coming back out the TS switch is bad , Rock Auto has them Standard part # TW7 .
the running lights are probably bad ground , if you have power at the socket & the bulbs are good then either the socket is not grounded to the housing or the housing is not grounding to the body

Thanks Chryco :2thumbs: Right after I posted I realized the new front fenders have no ground on the housing since they are factory painted and the rears had lizard skin blocking the ground. A few minutes with some sand paper and they work perfectly. Looks like the next step in the TS switch. I jumped a wire from white to brown and hit the brakes and got lights so it is definately bad. Thanks again!
