When did Politcal posts become the norm around here?

I guess it depends how you search here , if you click on the read new posts search then you get everything , I never do that I just open the forum & look at the areas that are most important to me

I certainly I'm not a very political person or into guns but the Current events section as far as I can see is not just politics and guns although there is certainly talk of those topics there.

I may have my opinions and sometimes it is good to see what other people think or to get some info on a topic I haven't put much thought into.

It does change the nature of the site a little and perhaps change is a little uncomfortable.  It makes it "less" of a car site but we always had the off topic section and there have always been plenty of posts there. 

Sometimes non-car posts can be eye opening but I know if at least one thread that perhaps got a little out of hand.  No fault of anyone but sometimes conversations can get a little heated.

I would hardly call it "littered" as there is only one specific section. 

and I never look into the vin section cuz I don't care about it. I've never considered it much of an effort not to click on it.

I dont like politics involved when I am on a non-political site or topic.  If its a car post, lets talk cars.  But in reality, this forum is free, and you will get input that you don't want or input that doesn't even relate to the original subject.  Its the net, period.   There are folks that truly beleieve it what they are saying and will take any op to do so

Which begs the question: If you like freedom of speech and don't beleive in censorship, where is the line?

Just came across this, as like Neil does, I usually only open the threads I am interested in or may be able to offer an opinion in by going straight to the main board.
With respect to Wally426 the Joke and Babe section are not really car related so maybe using the same analogy we should get rid of them too. Keep them. 
I have great respect for all on this board as we are an international group, other boards I go on are not so tolerant and you could get a warning for saying something they don't like to hear and it could even be car related.
Ross and the Mods do a great job and do it for the love of spreading car related information, and we can get a laugh at the same time also.
One truck site I am on have a warning attached to to the controversial thread not to enter if easily offended and those are a bit like here, all friendly.

I don't mind the current events section at all. For those that don't want to read it, don't read it lol. Although another option (if they so choose to alter the site in that way) is one I saw on another website, can't even remember which one. But basically you had to check a disclaimer to their political section saying you wanted access, you could change it back later if you wanted.

On the other hand if people demand that all that be on this forum is cuda and challenger posts/topics, then lets make it a little more crazy. You must either say cuda, barracuda, or challenger in all posts. Of course that would ruin it for me since I don't have my 'cuda anymore and I occasionally ask for advice/info for my satellite lol.

It doesn't bother me none. Lots posted on the flight 170 missing I enjoy the whole site recent activities recent  topics each topic. It stays pretty low profile when people are posting on it it is like an argument out of hand. I haven't seen the post created saying I'm riding in My e body smoking a joint with my gay male friend were getting married in a couple of days going to buy a gun and ask Obama for food stamps. If you read the news and watch the news listen to the radio its on everything we do at least it civil here with good language communications and nobody beating up each other  some get it and some don't but it all ties together so ignore if you don't want to read it if you want to read it go ahead and do so simple as that. It is moderated so anything terrible can be taken out of it anyway that's language explicit or causing bad angry comments

I have two favorite buttons on here.
On my home computer I stay logged in all the time.
I come on here and first click on:
"Show unread posts since last visit"
Then I read all the subjects. open the ones of interest, then click on:
"Mark all messages as read"

I've been doing that every time I come on here during the day (which is a lot) and it saves time, I only read what interests me and I don't really care what other topics people may be talking about.

For a while there were two guys on here always instigating trouble but have since left, creating a very friendly atmosphere for those of us on here everyday.
