Lamp Questions
« on: May 08, 2014 - 08:41:58 PM »
Hey guys long time no post.  I've resumed work on my car and I'm cleaning up the electrical.  A few questions on lamps in the accessory wiring diagrams (see attached) came up:

1.  What is a switch title lamp?
2.  What is an ash receiver lamp?  I assume that is the one on the ash tray, yeah?  Asking because mine is not wired as shown so just want to confirm my assumptions.
3.  What does the map/courtesy lamp look like?  Where should it go?  I believe I may be missing this one entirely though I definitely have the plug for it...
4.  For the starter ignition switch lamp, I have 2 ribbon cables coming out of the steering column, then I have a couple of extras--one with 3? wires and another single yellow wire with plug on the end.  Is the yellow wire the one represented in the diagram as the one going to the starter ignition switch lamp?  Again, to confirm assumptions, that is the one that illuminates the ignition tumbler so you can see where to put the key?

Thanks all!

I don't have our Cuda close by to check this stuff out but I'll take a shot at it anyway.
1. I think I recall that there's a light around the driver's side of the dash that goes off after a short time--don't remember where it is.  The light that shines down on the heater controls has a yellow wire.  Don't remember if that one has the time delay if you have the overhead console stuff. So essentially no help there.
2. The ash receiver is the ash tray.
3. The map light is on the bottom center of the dash.  The light and switch are out of view.
4. I think some steering columns came with wiring pre-installed for cruise control (even in 1970).  That would be the three wires. And the yellow wire is for the light at the switch.
