I've never removed mine. What involved in removing it?

The seat back and rear side panels hold it in.  There are also two metal clips that hold it to the metal beneath.  The clips are similar to what holds the bottom of the door panels in place.  I would compress the clips from the bottom side and push them up.  That way you don't tear them out of the cardboard.
