73 cuda leaf springs hitting frame?!
« on: May 14, 2014 - 06:51:03 PM »
I just installed the new ss springs on my cuda and went to set it down to finish up tightening bolts and the rear shackle is hitting the frame? Why would this happen? They are 3400lb springs and I used the top hole on the spacer for the front eye. Any ideas?

Did you use the super stock spring hangers?

Yes, I used the top hole on them. And the wheel sits perfectly centered in the wheel well. It's almost as if the back half of the spring is too long?

Is the car sitting on it's wheels with the full weight on the ground?

Yeah, I believe I had received the wrong springs. Cause I've thought and thought if I had done anything wrong but there is no way.

Sounds like the springs are too long but why , the SS springs were made in the shorter A body length & have to use the longer front mount to center the wheel which is working so the back end is too long ? Do you have a measurement ?  Are they Mopar springs ?

Yes they are mopar springs. And I can't remember what I measured for sure, I'll have to recheck when I get back home.

I called the place I ordered them from and sure enough they had sent the wrong set. Sending me correct new ones for free!
