Inner tail lights on 74 Challenger
« on: May 18, 2014 - 06:09:04 AM »
Are the inner tail lights ever able to act independently of the white central light? I've only ever seen mine running simultaneously (and I can only get them to come on in reverse). But I came across this picture and now wonder if I'm missing something.

Thanks.

There is no inner taillight.  The outer ones are your stop turn taillights.  The inner ones are only for reverse.  If you pull the bulb, you'll see there is only one single filament bulb in the inner housings.  The outers use one dual filament bulb for dim running lights and bright brake/turn lights.  What you see in the picture is the reflections from the reflectors built into the plastic lenses.
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?

You can change them. I was talking to Cynister telling him how I'm putting 4 tail lights in my cuda, just like Corvettes. He says, "I'm doing the same thing".

Just wire them up to the outside lights and they'll work just like a 70 Challenger. You can always use LED strips for the reverse lights.
