Space saver tire
« on: April 27, 2014 - 08:38:02 PM »
My 70 Challenger had a full size spare when I got the car. How can I know if it should have the space saver spare ?

Depends on which wheels the car left the factory with.

All E Bodies that left the factory with 15" wheels got the space saver spare.
All convertible E Bodies, reguardless of wheel size got the space saver spare.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

Just checking when was the red canister produced for the inflatable tire. Does anyone know that answer? I thought it was available for 71. :smokin: :dunno:

Certainly not correct for 1971....After 1971 the space saver spare was no longer standard equipment because you could no longer get 15" wheels on an E Body and of course you could no longer get a convertible either.

What I'm not sure of is if the space saver spare continued on as an extra cost option...maybe that would be where the long red canister comes into play. :dunno:

I checked for the part #3845638 on the red canister and its defiantly for a Chrysler. A little checking on the internet and they are saying its for 70-71 years?Does anyone know more info? :smokin: :screwy:

I would like to know too. I've seen the short canisters and the long canisters. My vert is missing the canister and I was wondering what would be correct.

I have an unused Space Saver in great shape if you are looking for one...
No canister however.
