E brake routing through frame connectors

I know I have seen it on here before but any ideas on how to route the e brake cables through the frame connectors. I have a cable going down each side of the frame and connecting to a bracket before they go to the rear wheels.

I welded in a tube thru the connector, in the manual it said just to make a cutout for the cable but I thought this was better. Put the connector up with a jack, ran the wire under it to its position in the rear and marked the in and out points on the connector, that I drilled holes, grinded them a lot to be oval and welded in a small tube to run the wire in. Worked fine except that the dimension of the tube could have been slightly larger, I had to use force to get the long bolt at the end of the wire thru, but it worked though. Is the travel of the cable impeded by the closeness of the frame connector? I have seen others that notch out and area so the cable can go inside the frame connector.

When you push the parking brake without frame connectors the cable is very tight to the floor, it rubs so my undercoating wears off in places. Now, in my case, with the frame connectors installed the cable will have some verikal tension when the brake is engaged, since the tube is about 1/2 from the floorpan. It will rub on the edges of the tube a bit, but it's no big deal, about equal to the original touching on the floor pans.
It's not a great solution for a parking brake to start with, very crude construction, but it works.
