Spark plugs for MSD setup
« on: July 07, 2014 - 09:55:21 AM »
I've got the MSD 6 Digital Plus box, Blaster 2 coil, ProComp distributor and have unmodified RJ12YC spark plugs in a fairly stock 440 engine.

Should this work as it stands? Should I change to different plug or should I open them up ?

A guy told me I might need different plugs for that setup, so I've done a search, and found this

MSD Digital 6 Plus :
Compression Spark Plug Gap
Up to 10.5:1: 0.050" - 0.060"
10.5:1 - 13.0:1: 0.040" - 0.050"
Above 13.0:1: 0.035" - 0.045"

And this tells me exactly nothing because I don't know what compression is in mine..

I would set it at .040 - .045 using the plugs you have

I can see what I'm running tonight, have a 383 Indy heads MSD, but I think I had to gap about .050
