There are a bunch of questions in this post. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
I'm in the process of replacing the A833 transmission on my "new to me" 70 Challenger with a 340-4 bbl. Once the transmission was out, I decided to drop the clutch (10.5" borg & beck) too in order to see what kind of shape it's it and be able to check the bellhousing alignment. The clutch pressure plate has 2 spots each roughly the size of a quarter where there is a depression that I can feel with my finger tip (maybe several thousandths deep). There's a picture attached of one of the spots marked with blue tape. The flywheel has 2 similar spots in the same orientation that aren't as deep but are still noticeable to the touch.
How will this effect the driving if I just put this back together as?
Is there an option to get the clutch and flywheel faces machined like I would a brake rotor?
Better to just replace everything?
I've only driven the car a half mile or so (no tags or inspection - had to be short) since I purchased it. The clutch seemed to be working OK but I was probably too excited about driving it to notice much.
On a related matter, I would welcome opinions about the keeping or replacing the clutch disc. It measures about 5/16" thick consistently. There appears to be just a little bit of normal wear on the surface (see pictures of front and back).
I will using the Challenger for the "no snow & sunny" version of a daily driver... nothing aggressive. Given the size of my remaining parts list, I'm trying to conserve $ where possible but I definitely don't want to have to have to pull the transmission again any time soon if these spots are going to become a problem.
Thanks in advance for the help.
