Export bracing
« on: June 26, 2014 - 02:39:31 PM »
Anybody know if any bracing was used on Cuda's/Challenger's like Ford used on the Mustangs for export. Since there unibody cars I would think something would have been added for when they were picked up to put on a ship. My internet searches turn up nothing.  :dunno: Just received the torque boxs for the Hemi Challenger clone were building and I want anything else that would have been factory to strenghten the body. :working:

I've never heard of anything like that on Mopars. On Mustangs it is a requirement because the coil springs sit on top of the upper control arm and feeds its load directly into the inner fenders.

Thanks HP2, didn't think about the Mustang coil springs. Learn something new every day.

How about we make some.  I've been looking to do something for a while and saw a few really nice units (both designed and installation wise) on a the Power Tour.

The Mustang crowd is full of good ideas for the Monte Carlo Bars.  I'm not a fan of rod ends as being the structural connecting point of the system in my car anyway.

Sounds like a plan bigblue, got any pics of the ones you saw ? I prefer designs that look like the factory would have done it.

I plan on making some for my '72 Challenger. I am going to weld a 3/16" flat filler piece over the wiper motor and under the cover and connect in to the area by welding underneath around it where it meets the firewall. I am also going to tap into the areas above the shocks once I beef that up with some plate steel also. I am tired of how the front ends of these cars flop around. I have also installed the US Cartool front support kit including the lower rad support. I think it should end the floppy front end.
