Well, we spent most of the week waiting for parts.  So, in the meantime...

-  we got our fuel filler tube installed
-  put in the steering box
-  finished putting all the clamps on the fuel lines
-  Put POR15 on the floor boards

We got our torque converter in on Thursday and couldn't wait to get the transmission all the way in.  We installed the TC in the trans and got it all under the car and lifted it up into place when we noticed something was quite wrong.   Did you know that a 10" torque converter will NOT fit on an 11" flex plate!!  DOH!!  We didn't think about that before hand.  So now we have to wait for a new flex plate before we can install the trans.  Bummer.

Well, not as much has advanced as we had hoped, but hopefully we'll have a bunch of stuff come in this week...disc brakes, flex plate, drive shaft.  It will be great to get all the underneath stuff done, so we can get her back on her feet!

Rev, you're moving along rather well, even if you don't think so.    Sorry to hear about that flex plate situation though.

I just measured my tc and flex plate, they are 11", Im not that up to speed on tc sizes but why would you use a smaller one?  Reduced rotating mass?  Just curious.

Interesting...  you'l have to let us know how the new one works for you (and Im sure you will  )

Just got back from Y1....got the flex plate and will install tonight!!  

Hey Wheels.  We weren't that "up" on TC's either...we've had to learn as we go.  When we ordered our TC, the company took all of our information (engine, rearend, how we'll drive the car, etc), and made one for our setup.  Turned out to be a 2200 - 2400 stall.  Somewhere in the transaction, we never specified and they never said what size TC we would be getting.  We just figured the easier fix would be to get a new flex plate...drive down to Year One if we have to.

There were two different size flex plates from Chrysler, one for large converters(lo-stall) and one for small(hi-stall). Before you try bolting it up again make sure the holes in the flex plate are large enough for your converter bolts. I remember having to hog out the holes with the trans installed in the car to fit the larger aftermarket torque converter bolts.
