Who out there has an e- body with a ...
« on: May 16, 2004 - 03:22:27 PM »
I was at the englishtown mopar show this weekend and all the e bodies with a stick had a pistol grip.  I was just wondering how many of you fellow e body owners have a cuda or a challenger with a 3 spd stick.  My 73 barracuda has a 318 and a 3 spd.
Too many projects and nothing gets done.

I had a '70 Cuda w/ 383HP w/ 3 spd floor shift, & '71 Duster w/ 318 w/ 3 spd floor shift.  Both had a large round knob.  My brother had a '70 Cuda w/ 383HP w/ 4 spd, & his was a pistol grip.  A friend had a '70 Challenger w/ 318 3 spd floor shift, & his also had a large round knob.   Ovmf

Cool, so there are others out there with three speeds.  I was gonna convert mine to a 340 4 spd but after seeing that there arent many 3 spds out there what do you guys think of a 340 with the 3 speed?

Hey - Matt, I went to Englishtown on Sat. I did not bring my Cuda.. just painted the front fenders & it's not in show condition.. although I'd love to have raced it there.

Did you see the 71 CUda 440 4-spd vert?? It was black and had the red billboard.. I was talking w/ the guy for 15 min or so.. most redone w/ NOS parts. I swear, that was the "NICEEST" Cuda I've ever stood next to. The bod must have had all new parts because the car was nicer than what they drove off the assembly line.. couldn't tell you how much the guy has invested.

There were many beautiful mopars, but this stood out the most. Also, did you see that "Tony's Parts" had 8 real NOS fender gills for $795.00.. my brother said they were gone on Sunday. I found two 71 gilled fedenrs.. totally rusted out & dented.. would have to replace the dog legs as well.. 1,295 and 950.00 each.. WOW  ??? :o

didn't buy anything.. thank god I have most what I need. Not many people buying i guess becasue the prices were out to lunch..

I picked up a rimblow wheel w/o the center cap.. would ghave to be replated becasue of the pits.. guy wanted $400.00.

Races were very cool though. It got my blood pumpin   ;) :D ;D I took some pics and will post later.

Yea that 71 vert looked amazing. The black with red stripes is my favorite mopar color scheme.  I did buy a few parts there like a rear valence and seat belt for my 71 challenger and a piece of interior trim for my 73 barracuda.  I thought it was a good show all around.  I dont know if you need it but I do have a complete set of 71 e body seat belts that I want to sell.  The 71 e bodies are definately the coolest.   ;D

MoparMatt383,

I have a 73 Road Runner with a 318 3-Spd, large round knob also.  As for you changing to a 340, if you're swapping motors, might as well swap tranny's too.  If you want the prestiege of whuppin up on Ferds & Chebbies, why not do it with a 318 & 3-Spd ?  You can get lots of HP & Torque out of a 318.  Plus the look on their faces after you beat them with your 318 is kinda funny.  ;D

Before I bought the '71 Barracuda conv. in 1983, I had a 1970 Challenger conv. with a 318 and 3 speed on the floor with no console.  It also had the big nob on it.

Hey 71fish

I have an extra set of seatbelts.  Came out of the 71 conv.  I bought a new set for my car.  Didn't know if you got any or not.  Let me know if you're interested.

My first 1971 Cuda was Tor-red exterior/black interior, with a 340 3 speed. Galen documented it as one of 118 1971 Cuda 340/3-speeds. I was young, and Cudas were still pretty affordable back then. That was in 1986 - I paid $2500 for it, had 54,000 miles on it, Ralley hood, gilled fenders, etc. AND, for an additional $1000, the guy gave me an original shaker hood, bubble, metal trim ring, base plate, etc, a Hemi 4-speed (18 spline), a pistol grip shifter, a Ralley dash with all wiring (originally it was a standard dash), and a Go-wing (1970 style, but oh well). He even installed the 4-speed for me, too... I ended up putting all this stuff on it, but some punk wrecked into me less than a year later. Sigh, memories.

I'm getting off topic, but the guy who sold me my car had an original 1969 Daytona with a 426 Hemi/4-speed as well. I think he sold it for a little over $100,000, way back in 1989.
1971 Cuda, black/black, 419 cu. in. 3G Hemi with twin turbos (build in progress), AlterKtion, Wilwood 12.19" disks, billet Rallye wheels
