    big surprise huh ;D

    I feel as though the weight savings and the trick parts
    that are available nowadays makes it a good choice

    did I mention they are cheap :o

    ROFL Rev... Wheels.. you'll have to get used to her... she's a comedian!! ;) 8) :P Challengers with /6's are rare... plus a 3 speed on the floor... I'd take that car in a heartbeat!! :D Slants might be underpowered and heavy (only about 400-450 pounds)... but they've got a lot of untouched potential power...  ::) :D

    Whichever way you choose... at least it's a Mopar!! And an E-body!!!

    360cuda, your right too...  I could pick up a running 440 for a grand but I know it will cost more for the goodies... Ive considered a 360 and I know a guy who has 2 new crate 360's in his shop........

    If I ever considered a hemi, I think Id try and custom fit the new Hemi they have in the new trucks...  bone yard...  Can you imagine fuel injection??

    SC73, I saw your thread. Nice, it looks like its coming along,  mine only has the engine and trans removed so far.

    i'm not sure about the new hemi's....i heard some stuff about them that i wasn't to happy with(RODS), and not sure about the rebuild parts later down the road...

    i say make your way....i have a 72 chally, that the V.I.N said 340..but i bought it with a 318...i found a 340 to but back in...71 duster /6 rod went through the block..pulled it out put a 318 in.....70 challenger the V.I.N said /6 but no motor or trans...it will get a small underpowered hemi.... ;D

    Big Mike, I was just thinking that because last summer at a Friday night cruise spot I saw a 69 camaro with a new fuel injected vette engine in there, it looked badars.  Sorry to hear about the 340...  Small underpowered hemi.... thats a contridiction of terms...  lol

    360 727      easy to build, cheap, better milage, better handling. less weight.

    After looking for ages in the US over the internet for over a year and searching NZ's for sale sites there was one 25 minutes away. #'s Matching 1970 Challenger R/T, 440 Magnum (375hp) Heavy Duty Torqueflite 727, A/C-Heater, Power windows, Vinly roof  ;D
    He stored it for 20 plus years and got it from an Canadian guy who brought it to NZ in 1971!!!  :D 150K on the clock but she runs hard and is now right smack bang in the middle of resto, she'll be better than new in August/September  8)

    If you want a lot of bang for the buck, it's hard to beat a 440.  I'm building one on the cheap, I have $250 in the block,  heads and intake.   $100 in a forged crank, $275 in a set of new flat top pistons and re-con rods ( chrome rings already installed )  The biggest expense from here on out will be machine shop work.  Still I bet I can get 500 HP and torque out of it for under $1500.  I'm leaving out the 6-pack cost cause that was a present to myself. ;D

    If you like bargain hunting, you can do pretty good at swap meets.

    73Chall360, Thats a good point,  if you were on a twisty road and taking her thru the paces, would a 440 car struggle a lot more in the corners?  Would I also have to replace the torsion bars to beefier ones to take the big block?

    NZ.....  you lucky bastage.......   finding an Ebod half way around the world and a bad ars one to boot!, good on ya!

    Pistol Gripper, Thats what Im thinking too, everyone has great points to go for various combos...  this is going to be a fun car to drive around town, not every day mind you so gas isnt that big a deal,  Ive owned the car for 15 years +  and only put 12k on it, but when done it will be driven more.
