Wheel Bearing Part Numbers
« on: July 06, 2014 - 06:36:43 AM »
Hi All,

I am changing the wheel bearings out on my '70 Challenger, and was wondering!! Does anyone know the part numbers of the inner front wheel bearings.
The outers have the numbers LM11949, the inners I don't know about. I wanted to get the bearings before pulling the car apart so I can just do the job in one sitting!!

Thanks .....Mozz In Oz!!  :aussie: :burnout: :working:

Hmmm,

I forgot to add that the car has disc brakes on the front.
I'm told I need Timken Set 17 = inners L68149/L68111 and outters LM11949/LM11910
Does this sound right to anyone??

Use the rockauto catalogue. Usually gives drawings with dimensions.  :2thumbs:

BR6 Too small to go on the spindles!!!!  Does Timken Set2 and Set 17 sound right?
Set 2 and Set 6 were recommended but the inners (Set 6) don't fit!!    :-\

Then you don't have the correct 1970 spindles. Try looking at BR17 bearings for the inner.

Measure the spindle, 1970-72? the inner bearing/shaft diameter is 1.250" , 1973-74 it increased to 1.375" , the outer stayed the same. Be sure to get the correct rotor seal  for the correct year of spindle too , I think they are different too?

Thanks Brad,

Yep, they are 1.375in so I have '73 spindles on a '70 Challenger!  So it's Set2 outer and Set17 Inner!!
I'll get to it!!

:2thumbs:  Mine had the same thing when I got it.  I suspect it was originally drum brakes and someone swapped in the 73-74 spindles to upgrade to disc's?  :dunno:
