I don't know how things are done where you are, but Im surprised that you received your car before paying the body shop. Unless you had some agreement to pay later. Did you get an estimate from one body shop for $1900 then found this one that would do the job for $1049? So insurance paid you the higher amount and you pocket the rest? I'd say give him another go at it. Since the job was done and you accepted your car back, I think you should pay him. Otherwise, if you were not satisfied, the car should have stayed until it was done correctly, then you pay for the work. Not all body shops are equal. The saying, you get what you pay for, may apply here. If his written estimate says blend into door, then he did not fulfill his obligation. Im just not sure if we are getting the whole story here.
I agree, the paint does not match and that needs to be taken care of.
