    Any tech tips for installing a new pair of roof rail (upper window) seals?

    I had purchased a set of roof rail seals from Year One last winter.  They seem to be excellent quality and super soft, but I can't seem to get them to stay put in the channel.  The lower lip of the seal just wants to pop out.  I'll think I have it, then after a few days of driving it falls out again.  Any advice/ tips are appreciated. :thumbsup:

    What year. I had the same problem with my 71 cuda and found out I must have an early 71 with 70 channels. Never knew 70 was different but when they (metro) sent me the 70 ones they went right on. Live and learn I guess.

    Thanks for the help guys!  I kept thinking that this shouldn't be that difficult.  The seals are for my 72 Challenger and if I remember right, Year One only had one seal set for the 70-74.  Now back to Home Depot for some adhesive! :thumbsup:

    I tried first Metro 71-74 seal to my 1971 Barracuda, no way to got it nicely in, then bought Metro 1970, it looked a bit better.
    Then finally Soffseal 1971-1974 seal snap in perfectly. Not even needed a glue.

    Is there any way we can get end profile shots showing the difference between Metro and Softseal and the years as a ref guide?

    No pic from Soffseal, cause it is assembled to my car, but it was allmost like OEM 1971. Metro 1971 is too spongy, and the other lip didn´t "lock" on the rail.
    Haven´t yet tried 1970 Metro to my Challenger, I wish it will fit better.

    Thanks, yes it does,
    I have a 73 cuda that I have purchased Metro seals for, I have not swapped them out yet but a quick check on installation told me that they wont clip under one side either, not like the originals, I have the right Metro part number for the year, I need to check the cross section, I'll try and get to that on the weekend and post. The factory ones hold very well into the railfor sure.
    Id love to see the cross section of SoftSeal for comparison if anyone else has some.

    G'day Greg,
    Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but how did you go with the Metro roof rail seals ? I tried fitting mine today & they are hopeless, cannot get them to lock behind the channel on both sides at once, it's either one side or the other. Seems like they're too soft & flex themselves out of the groove. The cross sectional profile is a little different from the originals, seems one shoulder is smaller or something. Interested to know how you went with it all & any hints for fitment.

    Hey Steve,
    Mate, mine are still in their packet!!!!! they wont fit, and are not close to original, I think like mentioned above they will have to be glued in, PITA, wish they fit better, I never got any further info as far as cross section per above sorry.
    cant add much more than that at this point, its something that needs to be drilled down to get the correct info for sure, I just have not had the time to do so, pitty the early ones fit!!!
