1970 hood letters D-O-D-G-E - where to find?
« on: July 09, 2014 - 04:36:16 AM »
Yea where to find the hood letters for my 1970 Challenger? I can only see 1972-1974 letters and they are smaller than 1970.

Please advice! (dont just answer with like "yearone.com" - they dont even have it for 1970).

That's the first time I've ever heard the 70 letters are a different size. I'm pretty sure they are the same. I got mine from Herbs Parts. They look and fit great.

I've found that the descriptions on Herbs site leaves a little to be desired. They list tail panel letters for 70-74 however, they only fit 72-74. They list the hood letters for 73-74 however, I'm pretty sure they fit all years.

Guys, this was the answer from YEARONE:

"Hello
Thanks for the inquiry on the emblem. .however we do not currently offer those letters and the ones for the 73-74 are smaller than the 1970 ones
Thanks"

So... where to find them for my 70? :D

If Year One's hood letters don't fit a 70 hood than they won't fit a 72-74 hood.. I can't say if they will or won't fit cause I quit buying from Year One in the late eighties... I likely have 5+ full sets of original hood letters setting on my work bench... Plus 3 spare raisin bran hoods... (Two Scoops) one 70 without crumple ribs & two 72-74..

You get to the bottom of this, most of us have already been there...

Find someone with a used set and try them. You'll see that they are the same size.

Yea right, my local dealer... is eBay. Noone sells those stuff in sweden.

And how sure are you that Rosewille Moparts is correct and YearOne is wrong? I have seen the letters on diffrent sites saying 70-letters is not the same as 73-74.

I will put whatever letters I get my hands on on my hood anyway..

Well here's how it works....Each part that our beloved cars are made of has part numbers. The 1970 "DODGE" letters have different part numbers then the 1974 "DODGE" letters.
The ones that Mopar sells and Dave at Roseville sells, have the exact same part numbers as the 1970 Challenger, therefore one would assume they are correct for your car. :2cents:
