ALSO IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ. RE: Sat Lunch & other plans
« on: July 09, 2014 - 07:43:49 AM »
Okay my last all-caps message, I promise.

This is shaping up to be a big event, folks, and I just want to update everyone on some things that are planned this weekend.

Thursday, people start showing up.  4Cruizn' and I have a little tradition of hitting up a local brewery for dinner.  Anyone is welcome to join us.  I'm hoping he'll agree to go to Hershey with me and check out Troegs - they're a really good brewery.

Friday people start showing up at the fairgrounds EARLY.  I've heard of some members getting there at 6am.  This isn't necessary of course - whatever works for you.  But note that traffic will be getting hairy around 8am, if not sooner.  From our hotel, the turnpike is a pretty good bet.  It doesn't cost too much (I honestly don't remember how much) but it dumps you off pretty close to the fairground, and runs right past our hotel.

Friday lunch you're on your own.  There are TONS of food options at the fairgrounds.  Prices are reasonable, but understandably "marked up" a little bit.

Friday dinner we haven't really discussed, but in the past we've done a pizza gathering at the hotel.  It's cheap - usually $5 or so per person.  My wife has always taken the charge of going to pick it up.  We have a good number of people staying at the hotel this year, so we might try to go this route again.  Other than that, you're on your own.

SATURDAY LUNCH IS PROVIDED BY MY FAMILY!  And this year we have some special stuff planned, so PLEASE, please please plan to be at the tent at noon SHARP on Saturday.  Don't be late!  If you don't want to eat the cheesesteaks and broccoli salad (and LOTS of beer) that we're providing, that's totally fine, but please be at the tent regardless!!  We have some "current events" to discuss and I'd really like everyone to be there.

Saturday dinner is at Dodge City in Harrisburg.  The entire club is encouraged to attend!  The owner Doug remembers us fondly from last year and is looking forward to our return.  Yes it is probably going to be something of a challenging night for them to try and serve us all in a timely fashion, but I suspect that - same as years past - we'll have a really fun time regardless.  You can check them out at DodgeCityRestaurant.com if you'd like.  After this most of us head back to the hotel and sit out in the parking lot drinking beer and laughing until our guts hurt.  Or until it's 3AM, like last year...  :)

Most members leave Sunday morning.  I always leave depressed, knowing that the two most-fun days of the year are behind me.  The tent IS reserved through Sunday, though you'll likely find other people hanging out in it.  Sunday is usually a free-for-all at the fairgrounds.

I think that covers it all.  Sorry this ended up being so long.  The important part of it is Saturday lunch - PLEASE BE AT THE TENT AT NOON!!  I'll try to get through what we have planned as quickly as possible so that we can eat and/or you can go on your merry way!

THANKS, AND SEE YOU THERE!!!

Not to hi-jack your last all caps thread Jeff, but was curious if anyone was doing that Thursday evening car show at that Dodge dealership.
Tom and I hit it back in 2010 when I was there last, but if no other CC members are going local breweries with food always sound good.
As long as it's not a steak house/pub/Italian eatery/whore house like we encountered last time, just ask Dave for clarification on that one  :roflsmiley:

Ok I love this story, my wife & I still talk about it!
So back a few years ago at the last Carlisle I made it to I brought my wife out with me.
We make it in well Thursday evening and we meet up with Dave (4C) and he says he could
Use a beer and something to eat so we hit the restaurant behind the hotel.
Just the year before it was a nice pub if I remember correctly.
So we head up on foot and see they have "split" the restaurant in 2,
An Italian place and a bar/burger place.
So we head into the bar portion, order some drinks and food.
Now I've been told I can be not so observant, and that night was no exception.
So Dave & my wife look at each other and say "do you see what's going on?"
I don't at 1st, but as they point out a group of "ladies" in the back of the bar
Keep "disappearing" with different men in the back.
Guys come and go, and all is very clear after watching a few "transactions ".
Needless to say we were laughing about it all night.
So it's best if I don't pick where anyone eats lol!

Yes, yes.  I agree you are off the choosing places to eat roster.  But you have moved to first place on the picking places to drink roster.   :drunk:

Viperman, are you and Chyro Psycho staying at the same hotel? I believe it is the Fairfield Inn in New Cumberland. He will be tuning my car up there in the parking lot Friday, but I have no idea when you guys will be getting back to the hotel for pizza. That is when he was planning on doing it. He said he will not have his phone with him but I gave him my cell and home phone numbers the other day if there was a means for him to call anyway.....I did not get a response back from him so I am not sure if he got that P.M. with my numbers. Anyway, looking forward to meeting you guys tomorrow evening.

Hate to tell you guys, but that place looks out of business!!

Mike

I'm not at the Fairfield - I don't know about CP.

Unfortunately I don't know how to help you coordinate, but if you guys are meeting Friday evening, I'm sure you will cross paths sometime on Friday at the show.  I'll be around, if I can help any way I will.

CP is staying at the Fairfield. I talked to him not long ago and he was heading over to the show at the dealership.

It is difficult trying to coordinate with CP since he does not have a phone...He said that after the "Show" tonight, (Friday) he would be back at the hotel to work on my car. Anyone know what show he is talking of, and what time it will be over? Here is my cell number if anyone would rather contact me that way rather then using a computer. I live about 45 minutes from the Fairfield and do not want to keep CP waiting, or to think I am a no show. I appreciate your help....Frankly, I feel I am being more of a PITA about this and certainly do now wish to come across as such!  717-683-4720
