Don't let one sour grape ruin the bunch.  I had a guy ask me why I had a black car with no a.c.  I just smiled back and said it was black when I got it and never had a.c. to begin with.   He didn't understand and just walked off.  There's one of those in every bunch.

Why does your 74 have a big block, ugh, a 71 TA was never built, etc. just gotta love what you have and they don't, let the rest roll off.

Those type of people, their day will come when they meet their maker.

And he will ask: "Why did you ridicule those that worked in earnest to entertain the masses?"
"Yet you scorned them"

Back in 1998 I was in a wedding where the best man had a Challenger, 70 440-6. When we were introduced he was told about my 73. He went on at length about his car, and then he aske dme about mine. I told him that it was a 73 that caame with a 318, but had a 340 transplant. He snorted and walked away

I personally love it when kids run up to the car any state with their non polluted open mind that this is the coolest car they`ve ever seen

EXACTLY and well said. You get those type of people at EVERY show and gathering. AND they come at no charge. AND MOST LIKELY don't even own a car.

Vent away, it's good to get if of your chest. It's also good to know you're not alone. I get slammed by those SOB's too.
Most Common: (Them)What's under the hood? - (Me)It's a 318. - (Them)Oh, too bad.
Most recent: 3 weeks ago at a cruise in. Guy with wife says something to her about my car. Then spots me sitting behind it and says, "Oops, I didn't mean anything by that". I said, I didn't hear what you said (truth). Then he says "that's good" and " you know, your car has potential". Like yourself, "makes me want to never attend"  that cruise in.

That guy  probably was one of those moFARTS purists that ridicule everything you do because that's not how it came from the factory.  Had one jump on me about putting hood call outs on mine.  Told him its my f'n car and I'll do with it what I please.  Some people are real azzwipes IMO

Well, I have to say, after hearing all this, I'm glad I'm not alone. I really kind of kept a low profile on myself this weekend, being my first time really interacting with the folks on the forum, and having this HEMI Cuda to show for a friend. Let me tell you that my eyes are sharp and my hearing better. I have never seen a greater group of people together for a common cause than what I witnessed this weekend. First, I locked myself out of the car, and immediately 3-4 folks from Cuda-Challenger descended upon the problem like the 7-year Locusts. Thanks a lot to everyone who helped! But what I'm getting at is exactly was is being said here. I rarely go to shows because I just don't want to hear unconstructed critics tear apart my work. Yes, I am building a T/A tribute. Would we rather see the car go to the crusher and come back as an import? My R/T Challenger was never a 440 six pack, but it was saved from the crusher(literally) So don't despair, I found absolutely nothing wrong with anything anyone brought out to the show, it's there to be regarded as art. Or performance, however you want to look at it. The folks from C-C.com are the greatest hosts, most honest , and surely most dedicated to making the hobby FUN! I will be back next year, and proud to bring my 440 trips Challenger, and maybe the T/A wanna be. I know I will be among friends and respectable family, and most importantly welcome! Besides, if anyone can do that to front fenders and still be one of the best dude's around, I want in! Thanks for the great time everyone, I will bring more tables next year! chris irick

Been down this road on several occasions when I used to be into Street Rods. Why would anyone Hot Rod a nice '34 Ford Five Window Coupe? Why would anyone paint a '37 Chevy sedan THAT color? Even had a woman (recently) tell her kids that my Plum Crazy '70 Challenger was absolutely NOT a factory color--when she realized I was the owner she got mad when I very nicely corrected her and swore at me and told me I was stupid for embarrassing her in front of her kids. First thing that occurred to me was two quick lefts and and a hard right hook. Sometimes I think that I might have been placed here on this earth to correct these overbearing idiots by dropping them in their tracks. You know, that if someone doesn't tune these jack a$$es up they just continue being a scourge to the rest of society. Just my :2cents:
