Yep - all is good. I think this was the year of the Alternator.
I just crossed into Vermont with about 50 mils to go on a 2 lane road and heard a terrible clunking...... Opened the hood and the top Alternator bolt had sheared at the block, the alternator was still working (bottom bolt and belt held it on) but the broken bolt had worked its way towards the fan and was clipping it.......
It was dusk, raining and I didn't think I could make it the rest of the way without the alternator (as I needed both wipers and lights). So, looked in my bag of spare "stuff" and thought I might be able to use a small screw-type radiator clamp to hold the bolt in place so it wouldn't "work" its way back towards the fan again. Damn thing wouldn't hold though.. So I then I found a small vice grip and then used another larger clamp to help ensure it wouldn't snap off. Drove the last 50 miles much slower...... but made it The Fan blade has a few chips and will have to drill out and replace the bolt..... but all it all .....
It was just a Terrific Weekend.
Many thanks to everyone -- my first time to Carlisle -- and it was a pleasure to meet everyone!
