last details on wiring needed!!

Im just trying to finish up my wiring before I add fluids and start my beast.  I don't want to melt it down and I want my stuff to work.  But I am not very good with wiring, and I need more help.  I have a reverse light harness on its way from year one.  Does this plug into the bulk head from  the  engine compartment, and then run down next to the transmission to the switch?

     Where does the single yellow wire from the steering column connect to?  It has a brown female connector.  What does it power?   
 
      I cannot find the female slot to plug my parking brake male connector into (black wire).  It should be on the parking brake assembly somewhere, right?  Where?  I thought it would be obvious, but I must be ignorant. 

      I still need to wire in a column tach.  I think that is power, ground, coil, and switched light.  I should be able to figure that out. 

      Just for clarification,  the yellow 3 gang plug in (female) on a brown wire is switched hot?  The orange 3 gang plug in (female) is lights? And red 3 gang plug in (female) on a pink wire is always hot?  Let me know if my basics are wrong for the dash harness. 

      I did the alternator rewire.  I put the battery in the trunk, and sent + to the starter post.  I also sent a new larger wire from the alternator to the same starter post.  And another larger wire from the starter solenoid to the small post of the starter.  Does that sound right?  I had the ammeter changed to a volt meter from Redline Gauge Works.

     I had to to a lot of rewiring for my Vintage A/C system and can only hope I did it per instructions.

     I don't really have a step by step instructions for wiring everything else.   I did not put any fuses in yet.  Can I connect the power and ground at the battery, and then add the fuse to each circuit one at a time to help prevent any melting or fires?  Once I add a fuse, should I just feel for heat in the wires or at the fuse connection?  Does anybody have any suggestions to get me powered up safely?  Thanks for any input.  I know you guys have done this stuff before and I haven't.  I just don't want to ruin what I have done already.  Electricity still seem a little magical to me in the way it works.  J

If you are really worried about powering up your circuits, Take an old fuse and blow it. Solder a wire to each end and solder a tail light bulb to the wires. This way you can test the circuits and if you have a short, the bulb will glow brightly but not melt any wires.  It will glow for heavy draw circuits like your ignition, but works for testing things like light harnesses.

If you have an old battery charger like the old analog 3 or 6 amp style, you can use that in place of a battery.  I have a 25 year old Craftsman one that I used in place of the battery to test the circuits.  Since it only puts out 3 amps on the low setting its not going to hurt anything.

This probably won't work with some of the new fancy battery chargers.
