« on: July 14, 2014 - 08:47:16 PM »
Anyone just running their front and rear sway bars ??

Interested in the improvement you had by using them,,,, eventually I might add the A Arms and strut rods,,,,but for now will be running their sway bars and torsion bars. I can upgrade as I go I hope

Thanks.

The Hotchkis site says 1.1 and there is a height warning.  Says car may not work with them at original height. Designed for lowered cars.  That's why I haven't ordered them.  I have their TVS system on there now.   :dunno:

Thanks Toxic,,,,,
I cancelled my torsion bars with hotchkis,,,and ordered some firm feel 1.12 bars
I don't want the car sitting too low in the front ,,,
You saved me some trouble.   Thank you,,,,
I don't think the FF bars are indexed like the hotchkis stuff.

:2thumbs:  That's the safe way to play it. I have ff 1.120" bars too with no issues.

Thanks Brad, I assume you don't have any problems with height adjustment above or at stock level?   PS, nice meeting you at Carlisle. Doug.

I've said many times... don't be afraid of larger TBs... the 1.12 from FF are excellent street/hyw TBs.... and.. you won't be dissappointed with the FF 1.18 TBs... in fact, you'll want them eventually... they are not harsh at all.  I have 1.24" TBs in my Challenger (largest that physically fit through the 1.25" hole)... setup for competition autocross and road course events.... fantastic performance.... 1-1/4" front sway bar, 1" rear sway bar, Koni red adjustable shocks (would eventually like the QA1 dbl-adjstables), and 225 pound/5" arch fiberglass mono-leafs.   Pure pleasure to drive (naturally, avoiding bad streets, etc), especially on hwy cruises... awesome performance on autocross and road courses.
Autocross/road racers go in deeper... and come out harder!

I have no idea what "stock" ride height is?  I set mine so the headers and lower tranny/oil pan doesn't hit and the tires don't rub.

T-bars set the height through the adjuster setting the preload.  The shocks care about ride height.  People are scared when their adjuster isn't exactly where it was when they install new bars.  The t-bar is just a spring.

Thanks Mitch ! I think the FF 1.12 will work out fine. NICE CAR by the way,,,,, :smokin:

Brad,,,,I will set mine up the same,,,,,Im running a bigger pan and headers,,,so i'll need some clearance.  Good seeing ya at Carlise  8)

Cudazappa "People are scared when their adjuster isn't exactly where it was when they install new bars.  The t-bar is just a spring."

I spoke to Hotchkis, he mentioned I would run out of adjustment and not be able to get the car to a "stock" ride height,,,and it would sit much lower,,,, and if Im doing a lot of street driving,,,it could be a problem.

My understanding is the indexing on their bars are a bit different..  :dunno:

I have run a bunch of different bars in my Belvedere ( strip car )  and never had issues and like you say the adjuster just needed some tweaking when I went from one bar to another

,,,,but Hotchkis mentioned I wouldn't be able to get it at stock height and would run out of adjustment.  :hyper:

I was bummed,,,looks like a nice torsion bar. I misunderstood them when I got them,,,and I think they were under the impression I was going to do some road racing.
I can only go in a straight line,,,so road racing is out for me,,,lol

Do you have a thread where you spec out your setup?  Although I'm not immediately planning on going a similar route, setting up the Barracuda for autocrossing still is an option I would really enjoy.  Love your T/A, awesome looking ride!
