Boring? So, for a car to not be boring, it has to have a 3 tone, plastic interior? It has to have all badges identifying what it is removed? It has to have a 4 tone paint job? It has to have the wing (one of its best features) removed? It has to have oversized rims?

I think he was just trying to say that not all mopars have to be by the book like so many of them are. The mopar community has far less "rodded" cars than ford and/or chevy and its good to see something different. As for the outcome of the car, everyone has there own opionions and they're entitled to them. However, I have to agree with you ghost about the outcome of this specific foose creation.

Well, the paintjob and rims I can handle. But, the removing of all the badges, the wing, and the making the interior cheap and plastiky looking are major no-no's in my book. They are what ruined the car for me.

I think what they did was a little extreme given the apparent nice original condition of that car. However the owner was not at a total loss. Once it is "Foosed" on, it is probably in the $100k car class. He can buy a really nice Chally for that but alas, his graduation present has been permanently tranformed and Doc will never be the same.

I think we ALL would have felt better about this if it was an old rusted project car sitting behind the garage on blocks, missing sheet metal, etc.

Get over yourself. No where in my response did I make that statement. If you go to a Mopar show the majority of the cars are "standard". It seems the majority of the cars are painted a high impact color whether they came that way or not and have rallys,magnums,or steelies. If people like that fine, at one point I was going to go back original lime green and rallys. I have a brand new set of rallys I do not even want to use now. Why in the world does every Mopar have to look alike? Foose took an old nonoriginal car (notice- high impact, factory wheeled look-alike) and modernized it. If people want to drive around in old technology without upgrades like larger brakes/suspension mods, so be it, but what is wrong with someone who does? If you have not noticed the musclecars of the 60s/70s are the 34 Fords of the past generation. Just as those old hot rods are everywhere with 350s with upgraded suspensions and wheels the musclecars are headed in the same direction. There is a place for the original cars, but not everyone has to be the same. I choose to take the path less traveled by.

Let's play nice guys. Everyone has an opinion of how they want "their" car to look. Thankfully, we all have different opinions! Otherwise all car shows would be terribly boring looking at the same thing. I look at Outlaw's car for example. He's done so many custom things on his car that I think are really cool. I would find his car very interesting to look at because of it's differences and the ingenuity that it took. On our car, we were trying to make it appear stock looking but upgrade most of the other components (brakes, a/c, suspension, etc.). We also went outside of mother mopar's color scheme. We did it the way we wanted our car to look. I guess, what I'm saying is...to each his own. I can appreciate them all...but I wouldn't necessarily choose to have some items on my car.

All in all, I can appreciate the look they were going for...but I wouldn't have done it on my car.

Notice what I said I hated most about it was the cheap, plastiky interior, and the removal of the badges and wings. The brakes and suspension mods are a plus. But, the interior and the removed items ruined it for me.

Guess I'm not a purist, I would do this to my car in a heart beat if I could afford it. I liked almost everything about the project. I would add a T/A spoiler and put the original flip-top gas cap back on though.

The MOpar crowd is so worried about having the correct water pump bolt or hose clamp, that they've missed what the whole point of hotrodding is all about. PERSONALIZING! What drives me even MORE crazy are CLONES trying to look 100% correct; WHY?

My hats off to Foose to do something bold on a CHallenger. Modern interpretation is what it is. Granted, the wheels are a bit TOO big for my tastes (18" max should be) and the front seats look ridiculous, but the paint scheme and the loss off the goofy rear wing that to me, ruins the clean Challenger lines, makes the car!

So if Foose were to put steel Rallyes on it and paint it stock w/the factory stripes, everyone would be happy?!? :dontknow:

well...if he had done it to a ragged-out plain old coupe that would have been one thing, but to cobble up one of the few remaniing R/Ts...that's just wrong. He destroyed a piece of history.

Besides, I hate that hip-hop looking Fast and Furious crap (oversized wheels, etc.) anyway...
