altenator amp i.d.

looking to put on a 65/70 amp alt.  how can I identify the current alt size?..is it stamped somewhere or have an identity marking?

the factory ones are 55-60 amp , if you go much past 60 amp you can melt the ammeter gauge the solution is to run a bypass from the alt to the battery terminal on the start relay

yes we plan on doing the bypass...I see some of the alts listed as 50 amp and some at 65.. I want to put on a 65 to help charge a little better.. have cleaned all the grounds I could find...so is there a way to physically tell a 50- from a 65?  I also thought I had seen a 75 listed somewhere?..i want to make sure that if I already have a 65 on the cuda no sense in swapping it at this time.  thanks again!!
