Have I got the right clutch fork rod?
« on: July 21, 2014 - 01:14:56 AM »
The parts just don't line up right. My fork rod has a bend in it - is that bend supposed to be there? Things would line up much better if it wasn't. Most of my clutch linkage came from a junkbox, so it's possible I have one for another car.

It's a 72 Challenger with a 340 and a Lakewood bellhousing.

Here's a picture of the bellhousing and crank if that is helpful.

Use what works best , the Lakewood could be causing some fitment issues too , the factory rod had a bend in it but often the longer A body one works better

Sounds like I do have the right part, so there's no point in ordering another one. I took it to a muffler shop where they applied some heat and persuasion and straightened out the bend, I'll try it out today. Thanks for the help!

My original was straight, but I put a bit of a bend in it to line up better. But not as much as yours is tweaked. :2cents:
