Great looking car. It has to be in neutral or Park to get the key out. I forget if it's a four speed, probably in reverse. If the lockout linkage isnt there, see if you can get the wide part of the steering column to turn counterclockwise, that will allow you to remove the key. Oh and there are four positions for the key to be in clockwise: accessory (lets you play the radio and stuff), Off (lets you pull the key), run and start.
