What year are we talking about?

I think they are referred to as a "coin".  I believe the number represents the last two digits of the part #.  They stopped using them at some point.(73 I think)  My 73 doesn't have one. I have a K-member out of a 72 Demon and it DOES have a coin.  The B-bodies went to a different suspension setup in 73 so my guess is a coin wasn't needed anymore.  The E-bodies all took the same part.

The number is found on the broadcast sheet.
"77" is late 1970 E Body 318,340, 383 and
early 1970 E Body 440 w/skid Which is odd :clueless:

My car is a 1972 but i was sure it wouldn't be the original. What I never understood was why my small block k member has a skid plate.

Alan, I thought a 440 k member was different than a small block k member?

Nope....both the same. E Bodies had three basic K Members: Slant Six, All V8, and Hemi.
