Funny thing about the clip is that once together I xannot see the bushings coming out on the frame rail side

Yep,
I went thru the same thing several months ago and it wasn't no picnic.
Had to heat up the rubber seals with a heat gun just to get them over the pivot balls. Then figuring the rest out.

I just use a deep socket that the ball fits inside & push the ball through the seal with the socket

I tried that and they were pretty stuborn. The rubber seal lip would slip in the socket. But then again it was coller temps and I was in the shop. Heat gun simplified it alot.

Once I figured it out, I had both on within 2 minutes.
