Interesting twist on an exhaust system

Noticed the new Mustang Boss 302 (444 hp) has a quad exhaust,
with two pipes out the back, but two more on the sides (one on
each side).  Maybe I'll consider a mod that does that, kinda a
normal Cuda but also the side exhaust similar to an AAR. Probably
should sound pretty cool? Still would try to keep most of the noise
coming out the back. Ford said they did it just to increase the driving
sensation.

Reminds me of a mouse maze.    I'm not really sure of the point, if you want a TA style exhaust put them out the side, otherwise out back they go.  Now electric cutouts, that would make it sound cool and increase your "driving sensation"!

I was thinking the same thing about electric cutouts. Seems like a better idea to me.

Looks like the side exhausts are an extension of, or provide the
same benefit of, an H pipe.

I suppose on an E body the side exhaust would have to dump
right in front of the rear tires.

Probably increases power output, by allowing less
back-presure after the exhaust manifolds.
4 pipes are gonna flow more air than two pipes.

So in a way, they are muffled cutouts.

The stock AAR side exhausts are known to be very restrictive,
about 175 CFM each side.

I recently installed electric cutouts on a 57 Chev. right behind the headers, has full flowmaster system to the rear. Sounds awesome when you hit the switch  Can't remember the brand off hand, got them from Summit. They are knife edge, the best kind to use, no leaks when closed. Sorry bout the referance to another brand of automobile

I have plans to do an electric cutout side T/A style exhaust too but I keep reading how the electric cutouts eventually fail.  I had side exhaust on my BB Buick sounded great and all but after awhile it was too much and the fumes drifted back in the car when stopped. Electric cut outs would be the answer IF they were reliable?    Another issue is ground clearance.....

Seems like I remember a recent Doug's Headers ad in Mopar Muscle that they have a guaranteed not to leak, self cleaning cutout.  Looks nice in the picture and Doug's has a good reputation here so probably an excellent option.
