A cuda story! (very moving) lol
« on: April 22, 2005 - 07:38:31 PM »
Hey guys iv been here at cc.com for a while know so i thought id share my story with everyone!!
It all started when I was about 5 or so my dad had a cool 71 charger and i loved it! So I grew up always wanting a mopar! When i got old enough to start looking for a car to drive I spent most of my time searchin through classic car traders and such after looking it was for certian what i wanted and that was nash bridges cuda!! but being 15, mowing yards for a living it just wasnt gonna happen! So i had to chose between a free 89 dodge shadow or save up my own money and buy what i wanted! So I saved up my money and bought a 75 dodge dart swinger 2 dr ht slant 6!! Its was great! So life went on and i was drive the dart around when i spotted her at first all i could see was a blue tarp and slot wheels but as i looked harder i noticed the tarp was ripped and the grille of a cuda was sticking out!! I counld belive it a cuda only 1/2 mile away from my house i flew home to tell my dad and he was like yea its been sittin there since 1987! I went back and knocked on the door but the guy wouldnt sell it!! 3 years went by and I was riding around in that area so i desided to take a look to see if the cuda still was there when i drove by i was devistated it was gone!! another year later! I was flipping throgh a trade times and saw an add that said 72 cuda for sale!! thats all no price or anything! I called and the guy said il take $3500 I didnt have them money but i still wanted to take a peek so i drove about 3 hours to look at a cuda I couldnt afford when i got there i was in ow it was the same cuda that sit 1/2 mile from my house for 15 years I finally had a chance to buy it!! i tried to get a loan but the back wouldnt so after asking everyone in my family for money my dad broke down and loaned me the money!! Now the cuda is mine (paid for) and on her way to being new again after a four year search my dream cuda is mine!!
Hope you enjoyed!!

Hey that's a fantastic story!

Can you tell us a little more about your Cuda....what motor/tranny does it have in it right now? Any info on what the car originally came with? If you look at the dataplate inside the engine compartment, it'll tell what options came with the car.

There's just something about the Cuda that makes it untouchable. Consider yourself lucky to have grabbed it for such a killer price!

If you have more pics, post them here!  ;)

You bought a 440 motor and a shaker hood?! Very good.....that will get your Cuda up to speed!

How did you find that shaker hood? I'm looking for one for my Challenger, but don't want the repros, I want the real metal deal, but don't want to pay the $5k these hoods go for (yes five big ones!)  :eekbig:

Nice story, 72Cudadude!!!!  I too kind of stumbled across mine.  I happened to be looking through our local paper, The AdVertiser, and noticed in bold letters '1973 Challenger $2,000'.  I couldn't believe such a car was in our area, so I asked my father how he'd feel if I gave the person a call to see if it was still for sale and if so, would he mind if I purchased it.  Needless to say, he thought it was alright that I could buy it (after talking to my Uncle who restores a ton of old Fords).  Let's just say he thought I was crazy for buying a car that was in primer, needed quarter panel repair, and had a cracked front windshield....But now he can't get over how nice it's beginning to look as more and more progress is done to it. :grinyes:  Remember, I grew up in a family that really doesn't have a thing for cars, with the exception of maybe a couple of my Uncles. ::)

 Funny how real life stories seem to "read" like a sub plot in a show, who could imagine you'd find "that" car with the time and distance factor, glad you got your youth's dream car, she will always be special to you.

318 and a 3 spd I like the sound of that.  Great story and sounds like a great car.  I am sure it will be amazing with that 440 and a shaker hood.
