Metric Steering Pump???
« on: July 26, 2014 - 03:35:33 PM »
Anyone know what year dodge went to metric steering pumps?

I need two of the studs that go on the back of the pump to attach the brackets. Nobody seems to make them.

I was at the wreckers today and noticed some of the newer trucks have a similar looking pump, but serpentine brackets.  Some of the pumps had the studs on the back that look like what I need.

I puled a few out, but now I suspect they are metric sized threads and will not work in my older pump.

Thoughts?

you will know right away if the threads are different , maybe you should have pulled the whole pump not just the bolts !!

well that would explain it...the studs will not thread in very far at all.  So damn I am out $5.00   Oh wait I got a cap as well, so that was worth the money.

I was going to grab the whole pump, but I think the return hoses looked different.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I found them by searching "Saginaw pump bolts", these are specified for GM but knowing the same pump source was used by Chrysler I figured they are the same & they do look like what others sell in a larger kit.

thanks guys, I appreciate the input.

I think I have found some mopar ones.

I called National Moparts (a Canadian mopar source and wreaking yard) and they have a few pumps on cars it the yard.  They and going to pull the studs and bolts I need and mail them out to me.  They also have a gasket I need.

Not sure why I never thought of them before??? :banghead: :banghead:
